We've been paying attention to the problems that users of our storage products have reported to us, some of which can be avoided in terms of usage and habits, and some of which are normal phenomena in the use of our products.

 

Q: Why did I lose my data? How can I avoid data loss?
A: Misuse of this product may cause irreversible data errors or loss, including but not limited to the following situations:

-Forced disconnection while transferring data or being used;

1. Transfer data by [copy], check the number and size of files and whether they can be opened normally after completion;

2. If the number of files is large, you can divide the transfer several times to reduce the risk of transmission interruption;

 

Q: Why does the product get hot during use? Will it affect the use or cause damage?
A: It is a normal phenomenon for storage products to heat up in the process of use, different power-on time and the frequency of read/write operation will cause different degrees of heating. As tested by the laboratory, the product chip can withstand temperatures up to about 85℃, which does not affect the quality and life of the product.


Q: Why is the device not recognized when plugged into the computer/phone?

A: You can try the following solutions to troubleshoot, if still not recognized, we recommend contacting customer service.

1. Re-plug or replace the interface;

2. Access to other devices;

3. If the computer can be used normally and other devices can not be recognized, it is recommended to check whether the file system meets the requirements of the device and reformat it.


Q: Why does the transfer speed not reach the advertised speed?
A: The advertised speeds are from MOVESPEED lab tests, and different hardware, interfaces, systems, testing methods, file types and sizes, and other factors will have an impact on the actual transfer speeds.

In addition, if the product is too slow to access the device, it may be incorrectly recognized as USB2.0, resulting in a significant reduction in speed.

 

Q: What interface is faster to use?
A: Products plugged into a higher version of the Rayleigh/USB interface can get the full experience of the product. 2000MB/s products need to be plugged into a USB 3.2 Gen2x2 (20Gbps) interface to achieve that speed. The Type-C interface used in most smartphones is USB 2.0 protocol, and the actual transfer speed will be significantly lower.

*The USB4 or Thunderbolt 4/Thunderbolt 3 ports of some devices may not be compatible with USB 3.2 Gen2x2, and the actual transfer speed drops to around 1000MB/s.

 

 

Q: Which file system should I use? How do I change it?
A: The product uses exFAT file system by default, which is compatible with most devices. However, some devices and systems may need to be formatted into other file systems to be recognized and used normally (e.g. FAT32, NTFS, etc.), please refer to the operating instructions of the relevant device.

* Formatting operation will empty the storage media, please backup important data in the storage media before!

My Computer/File Explorer → Right-click the disk icon → Click "Format" → Select File System → Click "Start".

*For Windows 10 and above, if you want to format to FAT32, you need to use "Terminal" command or third-party software.

macOS

Open the "Other" folder in the bootstrap → Open Disk Utility → Select the external storage partition on the left → Click "Wipe" → Select the format → Click "Wipe".

*In macOS, the format of FAT32 is "MS-DOS(FAT)".

Others

Some devices come with a formatting function, so you can follow the prompts.

exFAT

Compatible with most devices such as Windows, macOS, Linux and Android phones, it supports standalone files of 4GB and above.

FAT32

This format is required for some car recorders, surveillance cameras, older models of in-car systems, portable speakers, and does not support standalone files of 4GB and above.

NTFS

Mainly used for Windows systems, Xbox game consoles and some smart TVs, projectors need to use the format, support 4GB and above standalone files.

Others

The Playstation console uses a special file system that needs to be plugged into the console for formatting and will not be recognized by other devices.

 

Q: Can game consoles install games in external storage?
A: Sony PS4/PS5, Microsoft Xbox One/Xbox Series consoles, ROG Ally and other Windows handhelds all support the installation of external storage to run games, please check the official guide or video guide for specific operation.
Among them, PS5 and Xbox Series series consoles only support the previous generation of console games to run, and contemporary games need to be moved to the built-in storage of the console before they can run; SteamDeck system does not support this function, and can be realized by using third-party tools.

 

Q: Why is the actual capacity smaller than the labeled capacity?
A: The capacity calculation method common to the storage product industry is decimal, i.e., 1GB=1000MB, 1MB=1000KB, 1KB=1000Byte, while the capacity calculation method of some operating systems is binary, i.e., 1GB=1024MB, 1MB=1024KB, 1KB=1024Byte; in addition, the storage product will reserve a small part of hidden capacity for formatting and other functions, resulting in the deviation of the displayed available capacity.
According to 4.3.3 of GB/T 26225-2010 "General Specification for Information Technology Mobile Storage Flash Disks", the actual usable capacity of the product is greater than 90% of the nominal capacity.

 

Q: Why are there files in the product I just received?
A: For the first time to access the Android device, the system will automatically generate some files and folders, which will not affect the normal use.
